A stony area, exceptional viewpoint in the Mountains of the Costa Daurada
The Motllats are mountains in the municipalities of Capafonts and Vilaplana (Baix Camp region) and Mont-ral (L'Alt Camp region), with the highest peak of 1,036m. It has an excellent view, from which it's easier to understand the geological phenomena that are our mountains. The karst landscape of Motllats has formed caves, pools, rocks with holes in, and deep gullies that from this point we can see in all their majesty. Located at the end of Capafonts, the Motllats is a dry rocky area with pine and oak forest, previously mined for coal. There's a beautiful natural arch, Joi Bridge, located under the Nova spring. The southern part of the Motllats is part of the area of the Febró and is characterised by scrubland and moorland, with very steep slopes, which, at the highest point in the Foradada, reaches 986m above sea level.
