The River Siurana rises on the western slopes of the Prades Mountains and, like the other main rivers in these ranges, it maintains a constant flow that interacts with the substrate it crosses, digging out gorges and creating pools, waterfalls and exceptionally beautiful spots. Starting in the village of La Febró, where it rises, the river has modelled a valley overlooked from the cliffs by the impregnable Siurana, the last redoubt of Muslim occupation in Catalonia. To discover this valley, we offer you a crossing from La Febró to Arbolí, passing El Gorg and the abandoned village of Gallicant.
Leave La Febró following the river on a wide track, heading downstream. Cross the river several times, leave the track and continue heading downwards on the old Quatre Molins path, with some paved stretches, enjoying the gorge dug out by the Siurana. The path ends up leading into the river, above L’Esquirola mill. Cross it to follow the local path that leads to El Gorg, where the water turns into a pool and you can swim. From here, climb upwards on the long-distance path (GR) to Gallicant, now abandoned, and you will reach the village of Arbolí.
