This walk will allow you to discover two villages of the old Barony – L’Argentera and Duesaigües – and visit the castle-monastery of Sant Miquel d’Escornalbou. The climb to the castle from L’Argentera will allow you to retrace the monks’ steps along the old splendidly paved track, shaded by lush vegetation and with one or two spots for walkers to rest.
Leave the village of L’Argentera heading south and, before you reach a farm, turn right on to the old path going down to cross a ravine. Start the climb up the old paved path, which still has sections in very good condition. The climb up the shady side of Escornalbou mountain allows you to enjoy lush vegetation, making the path cool, with pleasant aromas. On reaching the top of the hill you can enjoy splendid panoramic views and a visit to the castle. To go down to Duesaigües, you need to walk along the main road for a little before taking the local path (PR) that runs parallel to the Vilamanya ditch. It is a track that once again benefits from the cool of the leafy, shady side of Escornalbou. Just before reaching the village of Duesaigües, take the old cart track linking the village with L’Argentera off to the left: a pleasant walk following the course of the Reial ravine.
